PJA Afterschool is looking for creative, compassionate, and energetic educators who want to make a real impact in the lives of school-age kids.
We are currently hiring afterschool staff for our WEST side locations
- SW - Multnomah Village
- SW - Sylvan
- NW - Forest Heights
Open Roles & Pay
Teacher Assistant: $17.50–$18.85/hour (Part-time)
Lead Teacher: $19–$20/hour (Part-time)
Schedule - Starts August 17th
Afternoons only! Great for students, creatives, or anyone seeking meaningful part-time work.
2:00/3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (varies by site)

What You’ll Do
You’ll help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging afterschool environment where students can learn and grow. This role is an opportunity to be a mentor and role model while helping students build confidence, curiosity, and strong relationships.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and leading enrichment activities and curriculum
- Supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Creating a positive and inclusive environment
- Collaborating with staff, families, and the community
- Ensuring student safety and well-being at all times
Qualifications

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 18 years old
- Enrollment in the Central Background Registry
- One of the following (Teacher qualification):
- 240 hours of experience working with youth, or
- AA/BA in education, child development, or a related field
Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on role:
- Fast-paced and often noisy environment
- May involve lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as bending, standing, and moving throughout the day
- Responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe space
- Requires vision and hearing within standard ranges and clear speaking ability
